We often try to recruit new trainees for the ministry of song leading from the public school band or choir. It seems logical that students who enjoy music will make good song leaders. This often does not prove to be true. Song leading is a true public leadership ministry and many music students lack the zeal for leadership.
Look to the stage. Students in drama or speech are more often young people with public leadership abilities. If they lack musical skills, encourage them to seek training in a summer singing school.
