Public Education—A Form of Child Sacrifice

The symptom is that 70-90% of kids raised in Christian homes leave the church after their 18th birthday and never come back. The cause is Progressivism. Think about it. Parents and churches teach about a God that can’t be seen and powers that can’t be measured. Then kids go to Progressive-run schools for 8 hours a day where they are indoctrinated with concepts counter to church teachings like:

1) Homosexuals are nice people and deserve to have all the rights of straight people;
2) Marriage is a civil union that should be enjoyed by two gays or two lesbians;
3) Sex is ok and so is abortion because it fixes mistakes that sex makes;
4) Government is great because it gives whatever you need;
5) God didn’t create us, monkeys did.

Shall I go on? Then, after being constrained for 18 years against the impulses to do what parents want them to do, they are free to make their own decisions in college or on their own. Drinking, sex, drugs – anything they want is now freely available to them. Why should they go to a church that preaches things that every good Progressive professor knows is wrong. Why should they listen to morals which constrain their wild behavior. And why should they vote for radical conservatives who want to strip away welfare, deny gays the right to raise kids, protect crosses in remote memorials, and other such silly things. No wonder kids abandon church. It is also no wonder why the country is racing towards the oblivion of Progressive slavery. (The Obamanator)

From the linked article: And don’t tell me your children go to a “good” public school. While there may be devout Christian administrators and teachers who work in public education--and I am glad there are, the system itself is still what it is—ungodly at its core.

Kyle Butt of Apologetics Press will be debating Blair Scott from the American Atheists organization tonight on the campus of the University of North Alabama (UNA) in the Norton Auditorium. 94% of Youth Leave the Church

There are various estimates , all say that 80% to 94% of youth leave about the time they leave home, go to college, etc.. “Why?” And, “What are we doing or going to do about it?”

They Were Never “In the Church”

Attending Church does not mean you are “in the Church.” Most youths attend because their parents do. Therefore, many leave for the simple reason that they were never “in, or of the Church.”

They Were Never Taught “Christianity Is True”

“We had access to them for 18 years, why do we lose 90% of those with whom we have had so much time?” I have been convinced for many years that the answer is somewhat simple and narrow. Youth learn, but could care less, what Paul really means in Romans 566:99, and they play lots of games. But they never became convinced that Paul or Jesus ever lived, i.e., they never became believers. That is, the Church did little or nothing to convince them anyone “The Bible is True!” But, when they step outside the Church, plenty of folks will tell them “The Bible and Christianity are False, or mythology,” most offering persuasive proof of their claims. This is especially true of youth, most of whom leave the home church to attend college where 90% of their “professors” will confidently prove to them that Christianity is mythology! About 90% of youth have never learned another side to these claims. Equally bad, the parents have essentially “certified” the abilities of these professors by paying for the University “education!” This is hardly a trivial problem!

Remembrance

Nearly every congregation I've visited or attended has a Lord's Supper table similar to ours—with “This Do..” or “Do This in Remembrance of Me”. Some also have 1 Cor 11:25. Normally we take this to be—Do This in Remembrance of What I am About to Do. Maybe that is the entire meaning of what He said—but maybe there is more.

We had a big storm Friday night, I was nearly asleep and heard a wailing from upstairs, went to look and my boy was at the top of the stairs yelling—I don't like this—as the rain beat against the house, lightning flashed, thunder boomed. Can't say I blamed him, I didn't like it either. He came down and buried his face in my neck and grabbed onto me like I could keep him from being sucked through the carpet. I put him in my bed and he went right to sleep.

Joplin, MO tornado

I talked to Dale Simpson, deacon at the church of Christ at 26th and Connecticut. Right now, their needs are being met--the members who lost their homes are staying with other members. Looks like the website is being updated with latest info: http://joplinchurchofchrist.com/

The churches of Christ Disaster Relief out of Nashville is expected to have a truck with supplies arriving in Joplin tomorrow. That may be the best place to send aid--figure $$ travel easily. To do so, visit their site: http://www.disasterreliefeffort.org.

In the meantime, keep the people of Joplin in your prayers. I know several people who I've been unable to get in touch with--land phone service is spotty and about 100 cell towers were destroyed. It'll be some time before communication is fully restored.
